About Us

Anyone who is interested in either joining the coastguards, or who would just like to know more can contact us by visiting Llantwit Major Coastguards. We train at the Fire station in LLantwit major every other Monday.

We also do some weekend training, as well as weekly patrols, teams of two will go out in                   the vehicle gaining valuable information on the area we look after, as well as  communicating            with other groups, ie Police, Lifguards, Lifeboats and heritage coast.

We are on call 24/7.

The team has now been together 5 years in Llantwit Major, and have dealt with a number of incidents from people falling off the cliffs, suicides, people getting lost, and people getting into trouble in the sea. or cut off from the tide.  We have even had to rescue the odd sheep.

We are volunteers, however we get some pay for callouts and some training.

The team is made up of people from varying backgrounds, some military, Fire service,                   Outdoor pursuits, however you don't have to have been in these occupational areas to join,                 we welcome people male and female from any occupational background, as you can                            learn the skills needed.
